The White Sox went ahead and did a 4-game sweep anyway. A bit anti-climatic, but it still has the desired conclusion.

I saw somewhere that the odds of the White Sox winning in 1917, the Red Sox winning the following year, neither team winning again in the 20th century, then going back-to-back of each other again when they do each chalk up another victory was somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 million to one.
