PrettyGirl is now two and half and has apparently turned the corner off of Baby Street and onto ActualPerson Avenue. Speaking in complete sentences (occasionally.) Having rudimentary conversations. That sort of thing. Also:
* PG loooooves Halloween, especially the part where everybody has pumpkins in front of their house. We don't have a pumpkin ourselves, but the pumpkin-adorned Trick or Treat flag we have in our front garden is typically greeted upon PG's return home before I am.
* One Halloween-related thing PG does not care for is the huge inflated black cat that was at the Y for all of one day before, we assume, a facility full of freaked-out kids made its removal prudent. Three weeks later, PG will still tell us that it's black, it's scary, and it's at the Y.
* I had no plans to discuss the potty training, but that was before M went out and got a pink princess potty. Not only is it PG-sized, thereby removing the possibility of her falling off, but it plays a royal fanfare when anything comes in contact with the bowl. I need not spell out what the "anything" typically is. Suffice it to say, anti-royalists would be pleased.
* PG knows pretty much all of the colors now. Red, boo, green, puh-poh (a color any good Ravens fan should know,) yallo, unge, etc. But one color rules them all, and that is pink. As far as PG is concerned, if if an item of clothing is not pink, it's not something that belongs on her body. Unless there's a Disney Princess on it. She's cool with going off the pink grid when there's a Princess involved.
* Spiderman and Superman have given way to Ariel and Belle, as well as Prince Eric and Beast (who, apparently, does not have an actual name - he's just "You" after his transformation back to human. I hope I didn't just spoil the ending for you.) Oh well, the Spiderman days were fun while they lasted. She still likes him, but, you know, they've grown apart.
* About a week ago, PG was running around the living room, stumbled, and planted her forehead into the baseboard under the front window, cracking it (the baseboard, not - we continue to assume a week later - her forehead.) This was her forehead's second sudden encounter with a hard surface in a month (the first being when she wasn't looking where she was going and tripped over a raised sidewalk tile,) and, like the previous time, she did it shortly before bedtime. This gave us all of about an hour to make sure she was okay before putting her in bed for the night. It's important to ensure the noggin's okay before letting the kid fall asleep, y'see. She got a bruise almost immediately, but that, and some crying, ended up being the only ill effects. And the bruise didn't last long.
* UPDATE - The forehead has had a third run-in with a solid object. She was involved in a toy possession dispute at the Y and, losing her grip on the toy in question, she fell and clonked her head. As usual, the only lasting consequence was a little mark on her forehead. And a brief lecture from her daddy when she got home.
* She'll copy the goofy stuff I do, proving that there is at least one person in the world that thinks I'm cool.
* During a recent visit to her uncle's house, we put on Beatles Rock Band and let PG be the drummer. I brought out the drum, and she said "I need sticks." I gave her the drumsticks and she said "I need chair." Then she sang along to "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" during her very first listening of the song. This is because she has good taste in music. Eventually, she found that she prefers "Yellow Submarine," but LitSwD does get some airplay in her singing rotation. Also, we showed her a picture of The Beatles and told her they are the guys who sing those songs, so now she refers to "Yellow Submarine" as "Beatles Yellow 'Marine."
